Class of 1999

My name is Kellie Moothart, a proud member of the Class of 1999, and I serve as the Treasurer for CSDBAA. My journey began at the Colorado School for the Deaf and the Blind (CSDB) when I arrived in the last half of fifth grade, transitioning from a mainstream environment to fully embracing my Deaf identity. The warm welcome from CSDB staff and teachers left a lasting impression, setting the stage for some of my best memories filled with friendships and sports.

In early fall of 1998, I participated in Jr NAD in North Carolina, and later served as Secretary in the Student Body Government. My involvement in these roles, along with various senior class events, enriched my experience. One of my favorite memories was traveling to the Iowa School for the Deaf to compete in volleyball games against four teams.

After moving back home from Oregon in 2021, I joined CSDBAA as a member. I have since been actively involved and volunteered with CSDBAA, including participating in MAAD basketball cookout and the 150th anniversary celebrations. I am deeply committed to continuing my time investment and passion for this vibrant Deaf community.

In my free time, I enjoy camping and outdoor activities. I am deeply committed to volunteering and actively engage with my two Deaf daughters' education at CSDB. As the President of the Parent Staff Organization (PSO) at CSDB, I passionately advocate for my daughters and other students, ensuring their needs and voices are heard.

I am dedicated to excellence and take initiative, making me a valuable team member. My commitment to my community and ability to balance my responsibilities make me a role model for many.
