Class of 1993
CSDB will always be my precious home knowing that it will contribute deaf and blind children to their accomplishments.
I was fortunate to enroll in the CSDB program where everyone used American Sign Language (ASL) to communicate effectively. This accessibility reduced my struggles with the barriers of speaking, lipreading, and using amplification. CSDB promoted my opportunities in leadership by involving the student body, government and different organizations, playing various sports as a captain, acting, and improving my academic acquisition. These experiences led me into success.
With the CSDB superlative team of staff's hard work, their patience and kindness supported me to graduate in 1993 as a valedictorian. He was chosen as one of 13 outstanding students in Colorado Springs in 1993. My favorite memory was winning the National Cheerleading Championship and playing badminton at the Deaflympics in Sofia, Bulgaria. All of these rich experiences helped me to pursue greatness.
I attended Gallaudet University and graduated with a master's degree in Deaf education. I worked at CSDB for several years to continue our generation of kindness in guiding our Deaf and blind children to achieve their journeys. I enjoyed my role model as a basketball coach and teacher. I enjoyed teaching various subjects of mathematics, video productions, yearbook, and ASL/Deaf Culture. The best reward I experienced was seeing students succeed in their dreams. After several years of teaching, I changed my profession into a legal qualified Deaf interpreter working throughout the state of Colorado.
Those remarkable experiences helped me to have the passions to help CSDB and our communities living beyond wellness. This is why I am loyal to the CSDBAA. As a treasurer and 150th Chairperson, it is my goal to see CSDB continue to grow and maintaining our alumni to remain strong together.
